Kinston banged out seven runs and eleven hits en route to a 7-2 win over Wilmington, Wednesday afternoon at Grainger Stadium. Kinston took two of three games from the Blue Rocks, winning their 13th series of the year. K-Tribe right hander Joe Ness (5-0) picked up his fifth win of the season, giving up just one run and four hits in 5.1 innings. Ness came in with a 2.20 ERA the sixth best in the Carolina League.
Ness got all the run support he needed in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Matt Whitney (2-3, 2 RBI's) hit a two run homerun, his sixth of the season. The two run shot put the K-Tribe up 4-1 and the Indians never looked back, scoring one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth. Five K-Tribers racked up two or more hits in today's game.
The K-Tribe with a league best 35-17 record, now hits the road for a four game series with the Frederick Keys. Left hander Scott Lewis takes the mound tomorrow for the K-Tribe, game time 7PM.
