SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Indians have been nominated for Minor League Baseball's John Henry Moss Community Service National Award for the team's hard work and dedication to the Spokane community. In addition, Senior Vice President Otto Klein was honored with the Bob Richman Award, which is given annually to an individual who has shown exceptional dedication and service to the Northwest League and constituent communities.

This is the second time the Indians have been nominated for the John Henry Moss Community Service Award, the first coming in 2013 in the award's inaugural year. The Award is presented to a Minor League club for their ongoing commitment to charitable service and their support and leadership within the community and the baseball industry. Each of the 19 MiLB leagues have one nomination for the national award. The award is named after the former South Atlantic League president, who founded the circuit and presided over it for a half-century from 1959-2008. The Grand Junction Rockies (2013) and Pawtucket Red Sox (2014) are the two previous winners.

Klein initiated the Northwest League Broadcast & Technology Committee, which is used to raise the profile of the league and its member teams as a whole. Klein was instrumental in landing a national broadcast for the inaugural Northwest/Pioneer Baseball League All-Star Game on the ROOT Sports Networks.

The award was recently renamed after longtime NWL League President Bob Richman, who served for 30 years from 1982 through 2012. Richman is a member of the Spokane Indians Rim of Honor.
