
Indians announce promotional calendar

The Burlington Indians announced their promotional calendar today, including three fireworks nights, a new weekly kids promotion, and Team USA vs. Taiwan. This year's schedule includes a franchise-high 37 home dates, beginning on June 15 and running through the end of August
Below is a brief description of selected promotional highlights. Additional promotions will be added; please keep an eye on the Indians website (www.burlingtonindians.net) for additional announcements.
PROMOTIONAL HIGHLIGHTS;
The 2006 Burlington Indians will begin play with two 7 PM exhibition games on Thursday, June 15 and Saturday, June 17.
On June 15, the B-Tribe will take on the Monroe Channel Cats of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, and it will also be a Thirsty Thursday, with $1 drinks.
The Saturday, June 17, 7 PM exhibition game will pit the Indians vs. the Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain League, another area summer collegiate league. This game will also be ABSS Schools Night. Saturday is also SAFE KIDS Night, with FREE BASEBALLS from SAFE KIDS for the first 300 kids to visit all the booths of our SAFE KIDS Safety Fair, featuring other giveaways including a FREE BIKE and lots of important summer safety information. It's also BB&T Magnet Schedule Night, with magnet schedules, courtesy of BB&T for the first 500 fans. It's also the first of our Tobacco Free Nights, sponsored by the Health and Wellness Trust Fund.
The Indians will open the Appalachian League season on the road June 21-23, and then return home for the official home opener on Saturday, June 24. The B-Tribe will take on the Bristol White Sox on a LabCorp Fireworks Night. Game time is 6:30, and before the game, the Indians' 10th Almost-Annual LabCorp Old-Timers Game will take place at 5 PM. This game will feature former area pro players, including Snow Camp's own Floyd Wicker, and local baseball legend Jack McKeon is scheduled to manage one of the teams, which will also feature selected players from LabCorp. There will be a great giveaway from great supporters at LabCorp; commemorative picture frames for the first 1,200 fans through the gates. There will also be BB&T Magnet Schedule for the first 750 fans.
Sunday, the 25th will be Youth Baseball & Softball Night, sponsored by Chick-Fil-A.
Monday, the 26th will be Alamance Chamber of Commerce Night, with some great games and prizes from Chamber members.
On Tuesday, July 4th, the Indians will host their traditional Fireworks Extravaganza, sponsored by Mid Carolina Motor Sports. Fans will also be able to shop for a new bike or ATV right at the ballpark, with a great selection of products on display from Mid Carolina Motor Sports, located in Cum Park Plaza. Game time on all Fireworks nights will be 6:30 PM.
One of the major events of the summer will be Team USA vs. Taiwan on July 12. This is the first time a US National Team has played in Burlington, and we are thrilled to be bringing this game to our fans. The USA Baseball team will feature the 25 best college players in the entire country, taking on the national team from Taiwan, one of the stronger teams in international baseball. This will be Game Seven, the final game of the series. This USA Baseball team will be preparing for the World Championships in Cuba in August, and will have a future big league star at every position. Box seats for this game are available along with season tickets or mini-plans. There will also be a free coaches clinic and kids autograph session during the day of that game.
Saturday, July 22nd will be BMOC Night, featuring great giveaways from participating merchants at the Burlington Manufacturers Outlet Center. That game will also feature the Dick Shirley Used Car Giveaway, where one fan will go home with a quality used car for Dick Shirley.
Saturday, July 29Th will be the Indians second LabCorp Fireworks show, with a 6:30 PM game time, and the fireworks display to follow the game. The 29th is also GKN Employee Night. The Indians will also give team photos, courtesy of BMOC to the first 1,000 fans in the gates.
Friday, August 11th is Graham Night, celebrating the people of Graham the Graham business community.
Saturday, August 19th is Back To School Night, and another of our Tobacco Free Nights, sponsored by the Health and Wellness Trust Fund.
ALSO NEW FOR 2006:
The box seats will feature cup holders for the first time in the BAS's 46 year history, courtesy of Burlington Square Mall.
McDonald's Kids Day Sundays will feature special activities for the kids at every Sunday home game. Gates will open at 5:30, and fans with children under 12 can play catch in the outfield until 6:15. Kids will get a chance to run the bases after the game.
The Indians and McDonald's will also be working together to offer fans more healthy choices; McDonald's side salads will be added to the concessions menu this summer. With the addition of hamburgers and wine to the old standards of hot dogs, pizza, nachos, Cheerwine soda products, Bud beer products, etc, there is now really something for everybody on our menu.
The Indians offer area fans an affordable night of family entertainment, with great ballpark food, soda and beer, as well as a full line of souvenirs and great on-field contests and giveaways.
