Indians All-Star OF Grady Sizemore & RHP Joe Smith to Join Akron Aeros for Home Opener

AKRON, OH - The Akron Aeros open the 2011 season on Thursday, April 7th at 7:05pm vs. the Binghamton Mets. Cleveland Indians All-Star Outfielder Grady Sizemore and right-handed reliever Joe Smith are scheduled to participate in the club's opener.

Fantastic opening night events will usher in the new campaign. Fans should plan to be at Canal Park by 6:30pm to take part in the festivities, including:

. Team introductions on the foul lines

. A very memorable introduction of the Aeros new ballpark mascot, Homer (a purple polka-dotted pigeon), along with fan-favorite Orbit

. Videoboard presentation of fan memories from the past 15 seasons at Canal Park

Opening Night promotions include:

. Buck Up Thirsty Thursday, courtesy of the Ohio Lottery (featuring $1 beers and $1 soft drinks)

. Magnet Schedule Giveaway, courtesy of Albert Guarnieri & Co.

. Refrigerator Giveaway to One Lucky Fan (to best display his/her magnet schedule)
