
Indians Add Pitchers Marquez and Teut

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Indianapolis Indians have added pitchers Robert Marquez and Nate Teut, the team announced today. Marquez signed as a free agent and will be in uniform for the Tribe's game at Richmond tonight. Teut was purchased from Triple-A Iowa and will join the team Saturday.
Marquez, 29, has not pitched this season. He had been with Somerset in the independent Atlantic League which started its season yesterday. Marquez pitched for Indianapolis last season and was second on the team with 47 relief appearances. He went 4-7 with a 3.82 ERA and eight saves. The righthander held opposing hitters to a .239 average.
Marquez, 6'0", 200 lbs., was originally drafted by Montreal in 1995. In 328 minor league games, he is 29-23 with a 3.69 ERA.
Teut, a 6'7" lefthander, was 0-4 with a 9.50 ERA in five starts between Triple-A Albuquerque and Iowa this season. The 27-year-old opened the season with Albuquerque, but was released on April 15. He signed with Iowa the next day.
Teut was a fourth round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in 1997. He won 13 games for Iowa in 2001. Last year, he pitched in the Florida organization going 5-6 with a 5.28 ERA in 27 games (19 starts) for Triple-A Calgary and 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA in two games for the Marlins.
