Indiana wins 116-109 in first game at Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA. With an opening night crowd of around 2000 at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, the visiting Indiana Alley Cats defeated the Pittsburgh Xplosion 116-109 in the opening game of the Americna Basketball Association season. Pittsburgh went into halftime with a 51-46 lead, but a 35 point third quarter by the Alley Cats who held the Xplosion to 21 in the quarter was the difference. The game was fast-paced and exciting with excellent play on both sides. Indiana was led by Chandler Thompson with 24 points, 7 rebounds; Brandon Brantley with 13 points, 10 rebounds and Aaron Hoggs with 19 points. Pittsburgh was led by Halsel with 20 points, former NBA star Armon Gillam with 12 pionts, 7 rebounds; John Murray with 14 points - and former ABA Indiana Legend star Coleco Buie with 15 points and 5 assists.

In attendance were ABA/NBA Legend Marvin "Bad News" Barnes as well as former Pittsburgh Steeler legends Lewis Lipps and Duane Woodruff. For more information, visit www.abalive.com.
