The Independence ended the first half with a 4-3 advantage over Red Bulls II in shots on goal.

Bertrand-Abang equalized for Red Bulls II in the 70th minute when he pounced on a rebound from Independence goalkeeper Brandon Miller.

"We're still in the playoff picture," added Jeffries. "We're going to compete, go in and win the rest of our games and get it done. That's the mentality we have."

Currently riding a four-game unbeaten streak, the Independence return to action next Saturday, September 29th at 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex at Matthews against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
