Inaugural Eskimo Women's Dinner Scores Big

September 28, 2007 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Edmonton Elks News Release

Last night's sold out Eskimo Women's Dinner can be classified as a success in many regards. Not only did the event provide a fun filled football-theme evening for the more than 400 women in attendance, it scored big points in its fundraising initiative.

Committee Chair Joan Forge closed the night's festivities by announcing the event had raised enough funds to have a room at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women named to honour Pam Monastyrskyj. Monastyrskyj served as secretary to the Edmonton Eskimo CEO for more than twenty years and in 2005 lost her lengthy battle when she was defeated by ovarian cancer.

Forge today announced the evening had raised $35,000.00. She went on to say, "It was an incredible evening - we are touched by how the women in Edmonton came together to support the event and the cause."

Honourary Chair Lynn Mandel and chair of the Community Outreach Committee at the Lois Hole Hospital for women said, "Fundraising efforts of this nature are encouraging as the building of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women is one of the most exciting healthcare projects taking place in this city to date. One that will have tremendous impact on our lives and those of our mothers, our sisters, and our daughters. "

A formal cheque presentation will be made at the October 13th Edmonton Eskimo Football game.
