ROANOKE, Va., Mar. 1 - Von Wafer came off the bench to score a team-high 21 points and lead the Fort Worth Flyers to a 106-102 victory over the Roanoke Dazzle at the Roanoke Civic Center.

In a physical game that featured a total of 67 personal foul calls and 78 free-throws attempted between the two teams, the Flyers were able to control the paint, where they scored 50 of their 106 points.

"They outscore us 50-44 in the paint. With our size and things we can do defensively, that shouldn't happen." said Dazzle Coach Kent Davison.

In the first half, Ime Udoka would lead the Flyer offense scoring 16 of his 18 total points before the break. The Dazzle bench stepped up to keep the Dazzle close, getting a big lift from Tyrone Sally who scored all 10 of his points in the frame. The Flyers would take a 59-51 lead into the locker room.

The second-half would begin with both teams exchanging runs. The Dazzle would rally first and run out to a 61-59 lead before Fort Worth countered, behind 10 points from Wafer to regain the lead to 81-72.

In the fourth, Anthony Grundy would lead the Dazzle charge, scoring 15 of his game-high 23 points in the quarter. In the end it wasn't enough as the Flyers were able to hit just enough of their free-throws to ice the 106-102 victory.

Flyers Coach Sam Vincent was pleased with how his team responded after getting beat the night before saying "It was better. Defensively we worked harder and followed our assignments. It's a little bit closer to how we play."

The Dazzle had five players reach double figures in scoring, with Grundy leading the way with 23, Seth Doliboa chipped in with 12, Will Bynum, Isiah Victor and Bryant Matthews all had 11 points and Sally rounded out the group with 10.

Five players reached double figures in scoring for the Flyers. Wafer led the way with 21, Udoka had 18, Josh Powell chipped in 17 while both Aaron Miles and Keith Langford had 16 points each.

With the loss the Dazzle drop to 18-17 overall, and will next head to the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C to take on the Fayetteville Patriots on Friday night.

The Flyers now improve to 23-13 and will next head to Tulsa, Okalahoma to face the Tulsa 66ers on Friday night.
