IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Eighteen

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Dayton forward John Snowden has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Fort Wayne defenseman Frankie DeAngelis has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Flint goaltender Rob Nolan has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 14th, 2010.

Snowden completed the week posting a total of six points (four goals, two assists) and a plus/minus rating of plus-four in four games played last week. He collected three of his six points this week against Quad City Sunday, a team that he has recorded 11 points (seven goals, four assists) against in four games vs. the Mallards so far this season. Snowden was a part of six of the 10 goals scored by the Gems this past week and had points in three of the four games played. The 28-year-old Everett, Washington native is currently leading the Gems in scoring with 20 goals and 16 assists for 36 points in 46 games played. His 36 points also rank him 14th in the IHL in scoring.

Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Matt Spiller, Flint right wing John Ronan, Fort Wayne left wing Matt Syroczynski, Muskegon defenseman Mario Larocque, Port Huron defenseman Daniel Tetrault and Quad City forward Patrick Levesque.

DeAngelis knocked in two goals and had two assists last week, scoring at least one point in each of the three games played by the Komets. He scored one goal and one assist in the 6-2 win over Bloomington Wednesday. DeAngelis scored the game-winning tally Saturday at Quad City while the Komets were shorthanded, extending his point streak to three games. The 25-year-old Woodbridge, Ontario native is currently second among IHL rookies in power play assists (7), fourth in plus/minus (plus-16) and is ninth in scoring (24 points). He does lead all Komets defenseman with eight goals and his 24 points makes him the second most productive defenseman on the Komets roster.

Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Nick Elligsen, Dayton forward Justin McCutcheon, Muskegon left wing Matt Robertson and Quad City center Justin White.

Nolan continues to be stellar between the pipes for the Generals, posting a 2-0-0-0 record this past week. He won back-to-back games against the second-place Port Huron Icehawks, only allowing two goals against in two games. He finished the week with a.967 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average, turning aside 59 of the 61 shots he faced from the Icehawks. Nolan has won his last three starts, giving up just one goal in each game. The 24-year-old Sherwood Park, Alberta native is ranked first among IHL goaltenders in saves with 835. Nolan is also tied for second in save percent- age (.922), third in minutes played (1674:57) and fourth in goals against average (2.54).

Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Kevin Armstrong, Dayton's Derek MacIntyre, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Muskegon's Matt Lundin, Port Huron's Larry Sterling and Quad City's Kyle Jones.
