
Igor Simutenkov Undergoes Successful Achilles Tendon Surgery

KANSAS CITY, MO (Wednesday, March 10, 2004) - Kansas City Wizards forward Igor Simutenkov underwent successful surgery today to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his left foot. Simutenkov suffered the injury during the Wizards off-season and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Achilles tendon surgery was performed at Heartland Spine & Specialty the official health care provider of the Kansas City Wizards. Dr. Scott Luallin, who is the Orthopedic Surgeon for the Wizards, performed the 45-minute procedure.
Simutenkov signed with the Wizards as a Foreign Allocation on May 20, 2002. During the 2003 campaign he appeared in 21 matches for the Wizards, scored seven goals and registered three assists to finish second on the team in scoring with 17 points. He is resting comfortably at home in Kansas City and is expected to be back sometime around the 2004 MLS All Star Game in July.
