Ignite Falls Short in Hard-Fought Battle to Stockton, 110-103

STOCKTON, CA - NBA G League Ignite (0-8) fell short to the Stockton Kings (4-4), 110-103, at the Adventist Health Arena in Stockton, Calif.

Ron Holland led the way for Ignite after a monster performance with a season-high 32 points, nine rebounds and five steals on 12-of-19 shooting from the field. John Jenkins followed with 28 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the three-point line, while Admon Gilder finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Jordan Ford paced the Kings with 28 points, six assists and two rebounds on 11-of-18 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Jalen Slawson had a final stat line of 23 points, four assists and three rebounds. Colby Jones added 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Chance Comanche added 16 points and seven rebounds.

In a competitive opening quarter, Ignite held a two-point advantage with under five minutes remaining in the quarter. The Kings used a 15-2 run to take an 11-point lead into the second period. Jordan Ford helped the Kings pull away after pouring in 14 of his 28 points on 5-of-6 shots from the field in the opening period. The Kings extended its lead by 19 points in the second period, the largest of the game, and ended the half with a 59-46 advantage. The Kings shot 57.5 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the three-point line during that span. Despite several runs by Ignite, the Kings held the advantage throughout the third quarter. Down by 12 points early in the fourth quarter, Ignite scored five consecutive points, forcing the Kings to call a timeout. Coming out of the break, the Kings changed their defensive strategy and fell into a 2-3 zone to slow down Ignite's momentum. Ignite continued to battle down the stretch but never overcame its deficit as the Kings held on to the victory.
