Idaho win streak snapped at six by Toros

BOISE, Idaho (March 14, 2007) - The Austin Toros snapped their three-game losing streak with a tough 102-96 win against the Idaho Stampede at Qwest Arena in Boise. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Stampede.
"Basketball is about making shots", said Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates. "When you give the other team two or three shots at a basket, they'll eventually fall in."
Austin outrebounded Idaho 55-35, including a 15-rebound difference on the offensive glass, which contributed to a 21-point difference in second chance points in the Toros' favor. The Toros shot just 43% in the win, but was able to get up 91 field goal attempts compared to Idaho's 77.
The game went back and forth throughout the second half, Idaho's biggest lead in the half came with 10:49 left in the third quarter at 58-49 on two free throws by Ronell Taylor. The Stampede had as much as a 13-point lead in the first quarter after a Randy Livingston three-point play with 2:58 left. Austin's largest lead was six, the difference at the end of the game.
Idaho did not score in the final 2:56 of the game.
"To come in here and get a win is huge," said Toros co-assistant coach Dale Osbourne. "Bryan Gates is an excellent coach and Idaho is a very good team, so to finish like we did was big for us."
B.J. Elder led the Toros with a game-high 37 points on 16-for-28 from the field, including 5-for-8 from three-point range. Cheyne Gadson added 16 points, and Justin Bowen had 14 points and nine rebounds for Austin.
Lance Allred paced the Stampede with his second 30-point game in three contests, tying his season high, while also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Ronell Taylor added 24 points and Luke Jackson contributed 19 points in the loss.
Austin improves to 16-20 with the victory, and continues on their road trip to Sioux Falls on Sunday. With the loss, Idaho drops to 27-12 but remains 1.5 games ahead of Colorado for the Western Division lead. The Stampede continue their home stand with back-to-back games against Anaheim on Friday and Saturday.

The D-League continues to develop talent from across all disciplines for the NBA's 30 teams and the entire NBA umbrella. In addition to the assignment of 20 NBA players to D-League affiliates this season, there have also been 11 GATORADE Call-Ups from the D-League to the NBA.
