Idaho tops Arsenal for fourth win in a row

BOISE, Idaho (March 3, 2007) - The Idaho Stampede used a 57 percent shooting performance for the game to beat the Anaheim Arsenal in front of the largest crowd of the season, 113-105 at Qwest Arena. Idaho utilized 31 total assists to make 40 field goals during the contest.

"Randy Livingston and Ronell Taylor really made us click tonight", said Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates. "We are 17-4 since those two were put into the starting lineup."

Livingston had his season-high and tied a league-high in assists with 20, in addition to his 15 points. Idaho had seven players score in double-figures, led by Luke Jackson's 20 points. Ricky Sanchez added 16 points and three block shots, while Taylor and Eddie Robinson contributed 13 points each. Lance Allred had 12 points and Tim Barnes added 10 off the bench.

Idaho jumped out to an early eight point lead in the first quarter on a Jackson lay up, but the Arsenal crawled back and took a three point lead going into the second quarter. Jackson led the Stampede in the quarter with 12 of his points coming in the period.

Anaheim used a 9-0 run to start the second quarter to put them up by 12 points, capped by a Davin White lay up with 7:51 remaining in the half. Two Barnes three pointers brought Idaho back into the game, cutting the Arsenal lead to 41-45 with 5:23 on the clock. The Stampede ended the half down my two, nearly taking the lead back going into the half, before a last second three by Barnes was waived off.

The Stampede built as much as an eight point lead early in the fourth quarter, on a Sanchez lay up with 9:27 remaining in the game. Subsequently, Anaheim used the next two minutes and 20 seconds to go on an 11-0 run to take the lead 96-97 on an Andre Owens lay up. Each team traded buckets until Idaho took the lead for the final time with 2:33 remaining in the game on an Allred lay up.

The Arsenal were led by Owens, who finished with a game-high 25 points. Steven Smith added 21 points, while Jawad Williams and Majic Dorsey contributed 18 and 17 points respectively. Tyler Smith had 14 points and nine rebounds.

The loss drops Anaheim to 17-22, they continue on the road to play Sioux Falls on Saturday, March 10. Idaho's win keeps them on top of the Western Division by 2.5 games, with a league-best 25-11 record. The Stampede embark on a two game road trip to face the Dakota Wizards on March 7 and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on March 11, before returning home March 14.
