IceRays Add Depth to Blue Line

The Corpus Christi IceRays have been assigned defenseman John Adams from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League, General Manager Pat Dunn announced Tuesday afternoon. Adams is in his fourth professional season, and has had stints in the AHL during each of those seasons. He will sign a five-game contract with Corpus Christi, and join the team Wednesday Night in New Mexico when they play their first game of a four-game road trip. The IceRays return to Corpus Christi on Saturday, November 15th at 7:05pm to host the Amarillo Gorillas on Caller-Times Family Night. Get a Family Four Pack of tickets in most sections for just $32. Adams, 25, comes to Corpus Christi from the Aeros - the fifth AHL team he's played for in his three-plus season career. Adams is a former third round pick (#82 overall) of the Buffalo Sabers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'2", 195 lbs. blue liner from Wayzata, MN has played 172 career games - 27 of which were in the AHL. He has also played at the AA-level for three different ECHL teams, most recently the Texas Wildcatters last season where he was teammates with current IceRays John McNabb and Kris Tebbs. In 62 games with Texas, he had eight goals and 24 points, plus 80 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Adams had a four-year collegiate career at perennial powerhouse Boston College.

The IceRays also announced on Tuesday that they have waived defenseman Nathan Oke. In four games, Oke had one assists and 19 PIM.
