Killer Bees Wylie Rogers Named Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month

The Central Hockey League announced today that Wylie Rogers of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of October/2008. Rogers will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood, to recognize his accomplishment.

Rogers, 23, is unbeaten this season winning each of his four starts. The rookie netminder is tops in the league with a .957 save percentage and is third with a 1.57 goals against average. The Fairbanks, Alaska native has allowed just six goals and is coming off an impressive 53-save performance in a 2-1 victory over Odessa in the Jackalopes home opener.

The Killer Bees are one of the biggest surprises in the CHL tied for the lead in the Southeast Division with a 5-0-0 record and 10 points. Rogers and the Bees allow just 1.80 goals per game ranking second in the CHL behind Oklahoma City (1.75 GAA).

Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for October include Arizona's Marco Emond, Bossier-Shreveport's Ken Carroll and Ryan Mior, Colorado's Morgan Cey and Andrew Penner, Laredo's Sebastien Centomo, Odessa's Juha Toivonen and Alexandre Vincent, Oklahoma City's Andy Franck, Rapid City's Miguel Beaudry and Texas' Brett Jaeger.
