Rush's Rich Hansen Named Sher-Wood/CHL Player of the Month

The Central Hockey League announced today that Rich Hansen of the Rapid City Rush has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Player of the Month for the month of October/2008. Hansen will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood, to recognize his accomplishment.
Hansen, 27, led the league in points (16) and was tied for the top spot with a +7 plus/minus rating for the month of October. The Northport, New York native scored six goals on a thrifty 19 shots ranking among the league leaders with a .316 shooting percentage. Hansen scored points in all six October games for the Rush scoring three of more points in four of the six contests. Hansen currently leads the CHL with 18 points (7-11=18) and a +10 plus/minus rating.
The expansion Rush have played every game on the road this season and have been quite impressive earning points in six of their seven games posting a 2-1-4 record. They are currently in second place in the Northwest Division with eight points and are half-way through their season opening 14-game road trip (ties a CHL record). The team's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 29th versus Colorado.
Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for October include Arizona's Joel Irving, Bossier-Shreveport's Kevin Cooper, Colorado's Riley Nelson and Ryan Tobler, Laredo's Jeff Bes and Alex Goupil, New Mexico's Torren Delforte, Odessa's Sebastien Thinel and Dominic Leveille, Oklahoma City's Simon Lambert, Rapid City's Chris Lipsett and Les Reaney and Texas' Scott Sheppard.
