October 18, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN.--- The Evansville IceMen proud affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons and Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League, return to ECHL action this weekend with a pair of games in as many nights this weekend.
The IceMen 1(0-1-0)0 will complete a season-opening two-game homestand Friday night at 7:15 pm at the fabulous Ford Center where they will tangle with the undefeated Trenton Titans 3(3-0-0)6. Evansville will be seeking to gain an even split of its present homestand after bowing on opening night, last Saturday night to their principal archrivals, the Fort Wayne Komets, 6-2. It was the IceMen first home opening night setback in the last three years.
Under the tutorship of third year General Manager/Head Coach Rich Kromm, the IceMen will effect two slight adjustments in their lineup when confronting an opponent which will enter Friday night's clash having attained the distinction of the ECHL's premiere overall record. The IceMen bench pilot has designated Rob Madore to get the starting call in goal while second-year right wing Patrick Kennedy will make his Evansville debut following the latter's attendance at the AHL Springfield training camp.
As for Trenton, the Titans have been perfect personified through its initial trio of decisions, limiting the opposition to a measly 4-goals during that span. The ECHL affiliate for the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, the Titans were in action Wednesday night, when on home ice, they subdued Reading, 3-1. Head Coach Vince Williams' cast also reigned supreme in its lone road appearance in this young season, registering an impressive 6-2 victory verdict at Reading against the Royals last Saturday night. The Titans are members of the ECHL Eastern Conference Atlantic Division.
Saturday night, the IceMen will sojourn to Fort Wayne for a road contest against the Komets with game time set for 6:30 pm CDT and broadcast time on flagship radio home WEOA-AM 1400 and WEOA-FM 98.5 and the seven station IceMen Radio Network 6:00 pm CDT. Evansville will vie to avenge last Saturday night's home opening night setback inflicted by their principal archenemies.
