IceHogs front office honored with pair of awards

Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced the 2005-06 Front Office Awards on Monday, and a pair of Rockford IceHogs front office members were honored. Anna Toltzman was given the UHL's Merchandise Director of the Year Award and Mike Peck was given the UHL's Public Relations Director of the Year Award.

Toltzman is serving in her first season with the IceHogs as Merchandise Director. Toltzman oversees the day-to-day operations of the IceHogs merchandise at the IceHogs Corporate Office and at all 38 regular season and all postseason home games. The Chicago native also helped design and lay out different merchandise items.

This season, IceHogs merchandise sales hit an all-time high with a diverse selection of apparel novelties. Toltzman spearheaded an effort to increase the additional successes of points of sale of IceHogs merchandise throughout the Rockford area. The Hogs established a kiosk at the Cherryvale Mall in Cherry Valley during the holiday shopping season and expanded the team's merchandise to Johnny-O's Sports in Rockford. The Merchandise Director of the Year is selected by the UHL President

"I am very proud of Anna and Mike's individual accomplishments," said IceHogs President and General Manager Ryan Washatka. "It's nice to see there hard work and dedication get recognized by there peers and the uhl. These awards not only speak of their abilities, but also on the continued success of our organization."

Peck is wrapping up his fifth season with the IceHogs and fourth as the club's Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations. The St. Paul native is responsible for all the IceHogs media relations, press releases and Web site maintenance. He joins the Kalamazoo Wings' Mike Modugno and Muskegon Fury's Terry Ficorelli as the UHL's only recipients of both the Public Relations Director of the Year and Broadcaster of the Year Awards. Peck was the 2004-05 UHL Broadcaster of the Year.

The UHL also recognized four other front office members in the league on Monday. Kalamazoo's Vice President and General Manager Paul Pickard was named the Governor of the Year; Muskegon's General Manager Tony Lisman was decorated as the General Manager of the Year; Elmira Jackals Director of Broadcasting and Public Relations Owen Newkirk was awarded Broadcaster of the Year; and the Port Huron Flags Sherri Matusz was given the Marketing Director of the Year.

ICEHOGS RALLY SET FOR TUESDAY NIGHT

Fan rally set for "4 in a row" at Player's Pizza Pub

Rockford, Ill.- A pep rally has been organized for the Rockford IceHogs by Hogs fans, in conjunction with Player's Pizza and Pub, for the team as they look to overcome a 3-0 Semifinal deficit against the Kalamazoo Wings in the Colonial Cup Playoffs.

The "4 in a row" Pep Rally will take place from 6:30 -7:30p.m. at Player's Pizza Pub located at 5120 Spooner Dr., just off of Route 2. and Elmwood Rd., by Sportscore One, behind the Mobil gas station in Rockford. All of the 2005-06 IceHogs players will be in attendance and Player's Pizza Pub will feature $4 mostacolli and meatballs, and $4 pitchers of beer. There will also be soft drinks available and families are invited to attend.

The Pep Rally is organized by the "IceHogs Tailgaters" and they encourage all IceHogs fans to help show their support for the IceHogs. The Hogs look to stave off elimination in Game Four against Kalamazoo at the Rockford MetroCentre on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. There will be a drawing for playoff tickets at the Pep Rally for Wednesday's game as well.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, May 10 vs. Kalamazoo Wings (Game Four): Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hogs face its first elimination game of the postseason when they face the Wings on Wednesday. It's win or go home for the Hogs as they look to avoid a series sweep by the Wings.
