Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs completed a perfect 3-for-3 weekend, picking up a big 3-1 victory over the Battalion in North Bay on Sunday afternoon!
Blake Siebenaler would get the visitors on the board first, firing home a shot that appeared to go through the net to make it 1-0 IceDogs! The lead would not last however as North Bay would answer with a powerplay goal just 1:11 later to tie things up. That would be it for scoring in the frame as the teams headed to the locker room deadlocked at 1-1. Shots after one were 7-6 North Bay.
In the second stanza, both teams would have some great opportunities to take the lead, but both IceDogs starter Stephen Dhillon and Battalion starter Jake Kment would come up with some big saves in an exciting, scoreless period. After 40 minutes, shots were even at 14-14.
The goaltenders would continue to be the story in the early part of the third, until Jordan Maletta would make no mistake after a nice feed from Josh Ho-Sang, firing home his ninth of the season to make it a 2-1 IceDogs lead with 7:49 remaining. Dhillon and the IceDogs defence would lock things down from there and Ho-Sang would add an empty netter to make it a 3-1 final. Final shots would be 22-21 North Bay.
The IceDogs will now return home to St. Catharines where they will play host to the visiting Windsor Spitfires this Thursday, November 5th at 7pm. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing locations!
