Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs lost a squeaker to the Owen Sound Attack 3-2 in Owen Sound on Saturday night.

The IceDogs would fall behind in the first period as Owen Sound would strike first 8:12 in to make it a 1-0 game. That would prove to be it for the scoring in the period as the IceDogs headed to the intermission down one. Shots in the first were 13-8 Niagara.

The score would remain that way for much of the second period until Brendan Perlini would strike for the IceDogs to knot things up at 1-1 with just under five minutes remaining in the frame. The score would not remain that way for long however as Owen Sound would answer back just over a minute later to retake the lead at 2-1. Unfazed the IceDogs would continue to battle and Steven Shipley would once again tie things up for the visitors, striking on the powerplay to make it 2-2 after 40 minutes. Shots after two were 26-17 IceDogs.

The third period would see both teams come out looking to take the lead but Christopher Festarini and Jordan Binnington would be on their game, keeping the score at 2-2 for much of the third period. Unfortunately for the IceDogs, it would be Owen Sound who would eventually break the deadlock, picking up a powerplay goal with 5:16 left in the third. The IceDogs would press for the equalizer late, but would come up empty falling by that same 3-2 score. Final shots were 34-31 Owen Sound.

The IceDogs will now return to St. Catharines where they will play host to the visiting London Knights tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. A limited number of single seats and standing room remain for tomorrow's game and can be purchased at all IceDogs ticketing locations!
