The Spirit Win against the Spitfires at Ice Blast

The Saginaw Spirit took on their rivals, the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday night, winning at home 7 - 4, with a sell - out crowd.

The game opened up with a nice finisher from Buffalo Sabres prospect, Justin Kea, his 19th of the season, assisted by Nick Moutrey. The Spitfires fired back a goal to tie it, on a shot by Alex Aleardi, his 21st of the season, with assists coming from Trevor Murphy and Boston Bruins prospect, Alex Khokhlachev. Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross would then break the tie and add another to the Spirit's count, giving him 36 goals this season, both goals were assisted by Eric Locke and Jimmy Lodge. The first period ended Saginaw 3 - Windsor 1.

The Spirit and the Spitfires came out strong in the second. Former Spitfire, Eric Locke added to the Spirit's score on a passing play, his 35th of the season, from Captain Garret Ross. Trevor Murphy slid one past Spirit goaltender, Jake Paterson, his 8th of the season, assisted by Remy Giftopoulos and Kerby Rychel. Eric Locke closed out the scoring for the frame for his 36th goal of the season, assisted by Garret Ross. The period ended Saginaw 5 - Windsor 3.

Both teams came out with a solid effort in the third; however the Spitfires were able to score early on a tally by New Jersey Devils prospect, Ben Johnson, his 16th of the season, with assists coming from Montreal Canadiens prospect, Brady Vail and Alex Aleardi. Eric Locke recorded the hat trick, with his 37th goal of the season, assisted by Garret Ross and Jason Shaw. The Spirit closed out the scoring in the game on a tally from Justin Kea, his 20th of the season, assisted by Nick Moutrey. The game ended Saginaw 7 - Windsor 4, with shots on goal Saginaw 42 - Windsor 35.
