Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs welcomed Hamilton to the Meridian Centre tonight for game 1 of 6 for the canine cup. Despite an early hot start, Niagara ultimately fell 6-2 to the Bulldogs.
In the opening frame, Daniel Michaud continued his success from last weekend and got himself back on the score sheet at just 1:14 into the game. David Jesus and Brenden Sirizzotti were credited with the assists on the play. Hamilton answered quickly to leave the period tied until Pano Fimis walked in from the point on the power-play to take the lead at 18:32. Brenden Sirizzotti tallied his second point on the night by handing it off to Gerard Keane to set up Fimis on the leading goal. Hamilton answered quickly again, to tie it up with just 23 seconds on the clock.
Niagara failed to get on the board for the following two periods as Hamilton scored 4 unanswered to take a 6-2 victory. Niagara IceDogs goaltender, Owen Flores made 36 stops on the night and Josh Rosenzweig went 3/3 in a temporary relief for the starting net-minder.
The IceDogs are headed to London to take on the Knights tomorrow night and then Sudbury for a Sunday afternoon matchup before they return home for 60's Night on December 8th.
