IceDogs Fall in Flores Return

February 7, 2023 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Niagara IceDogs News Release

ST. CATHARINES, ON - The IceDogs hosted a rare Tuesday Evening game at the Meridian Centre as they welcomed the defending OHL Champion Hamilton Bulldogs to Niagara for another chapter of the QEW Rivalry. Goaltender Owen Flores made his return to the crease for the IceDogs after missing the several weeks with a lower body injury.

Starting Goaltenders: Owen Flores (NIAG), Matteo Drobac (HAM)

No scoring would take place during the first half of the period until Hamilton's Adrian Rebelo would be awarded a penalty shot and would beat the returning Owen Flores on the glove side to open the scoring. The IceDogs would trail 2-0 after the opening period.

The middle period would not go the IceDogs way as the visiting Dogs would extend their lead by two more goals heading into the break with a four-goal lead. The final period would not fair much better as the Bulldogs would add another to their total to take a convincing 5-goal lead. Hamilton would win this game 6-0 outshooting Niagara by a 33-18 total.

The IceDogs will continue their week tomorrow on the road in Owen Sound for their only season visit to the Bayshore against the Attack.
