Bulldogs Announce Relocation to Brantford

BRANTFORD, ONTARIO. Due to the impending renovations and long-term closure of FirstOntario Centre, the Hamilton Bulldogs are announcing the team's relocation to Brantford beginning in the 2023-24 season.

It is with thanks to the City of Brantford working in cooperation with the franchise and owner Michael Andlauer that the Bulldogs will move into an upgraded Brantford Civic Centre beginning with the 2023-24 season.

The City of Brantford has shown incredible commitment and excitement to have the Bulldogs call the Brantford Civic Centre home and with the city's proximity to the franchise's existing fanbase it makes Brantford the right place for the Bulldogs to move forward.

"We are so thankful for the enthusiastic and immediate response from Mayor Davis, Brantford Council and city staff," said team owner Michael Andlauer. "Together, we have been able to make a home for the Bulldogs in a short and unexpected period of time."

The City of Brantford are no strangers to the OHL, having previously hosted the Brantford Alexanders, the relocated Hamilton Fincups, from 1978 through 1984 in the Brantford Civic Centre. The city is once again excited to welcome the Ontario Hockey League.

"I am very excited about bringing an OHL team to Brantford and thrilled that Council has enthusiastically endorsed this partnership," said Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. Based on the community's reaction to this news so far, I'm very confident that the Bulldogs fanbase will grow substantially in Brantford. I want to thank the Bulldogs organization for having faith in Brantford and all the City staff who made this exciting development for the community a reality.

Though the Bulldogs are relocating from the arena in which they have called home since 2015 and twice hoisted the J. Ross Robertson Cup over the last four years, the team is excited to bring Bulldogs hockey to Brantford and look forward to further building our fanbase and franchise.
