March 30, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs fell 5-1 to the visiting North Bay Battalion in game six of their OHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal in front of a sellout crowd at the Jack on Sunday afternoon. The loss evens the series up at three games a piece and sends the series to a game seven in North Bay on Tuesday night.

The IceDogs got off to a tough start in the first period as North Bay would open the scoring 4:19 in on the powerplay to take a 1-0 lead. The IceDogs deficit would become two at the 13:30 mark of the period, as North Bay would add a another goal to make it 2-0. IceDogs starter Brent Moran would make several big saves throughout the period to keep the score at 2-0 through 20 minutes, as the IceDogs were outshot 23-3 in the frame.

The second period would see the IceDogs look to get a goal to get back into the game and it would happen at the 13:10 mark of the second when Blake Siebenaler would throw a puck at the net and it would deflect off Matt Gillard and find its way in to bring the IceDogs within one at 2-1! Unfortunately for the IceDogs faithful North Bay would answer back just over four minutes later to put the IceDogs back down two at 3-1. The score would remain that way for the rest of the period as the IceDogs headed to the third down a pair. Shots after 40 were 30-13 for the visitors.

The IceDogs would head to the third looking to get themselves back into the game with the next goal and would have a few opportunities, but it wasn't meant to be as North Bay would ultimately add a pair of goals late to make it a 5-1 final. Final shots were 39-23 North Bay.

The IceDogs and Battalion are now headed to a winner take all game seven in North Bay on Tuesday night at 7:30pm. Fans can be sure to tune into all the action live on TVCogeco and 610CKTB!
