Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs picked up a 3-0 victory to sweep the season series against Belleville Bulls in front of 2,811 fans at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Thursday night. Dalton McGrath was the first star of the game as he posted his first shutout in an IceDogs uniform, while Ryan Strome notched two assists to go along with Jason Wilson, Freddie Hamilton and Steven Shipley's goals.
After Darren Archibald took a bone-crushing hit early in the first, IceDogs over-ager Jason Wilson took exception and proceeded to hit every Belleville player in sight before parking himself in front of the Bulls net and tipping in a Simon Gronvaldt shot at the 1:42 mark to make it 1-0 Niagara.
The next goal wouldn't come until the 4:38 mark of the second period when Freddie Hamilton scored his second goal in as many games on the power play with the help of Andrew Agozzino and Ryan Strome.
Buffalo Sabres draft pick Steven Shipley followed up with a late-period marker for his 12th of the season from David Pacan and Darren Archibald, giving the IceDogs a 3-0 lead going into the second intermission.
The third period was a physical one, but the IceDogs played a solid defensive game and Dalton McGrath played an exceptional game between the pipes to give the 'Dogs a 3-0 victory over the Belleville Bulls.
The IceDogs will return to action this coming Sunday afternoon as they host Erik Gudbrandson and the Kingston Frontenacs with the puck drop set for 2 p.m.
Tickets for Sunday's game are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location.
