
IceDogs and Generals Finish Exhibition Contest Deadlocked at 3-3

The Niagara IceDogs tied the visiting Oshawa Generals 3-3 Thursday night at the Gatorade Garden City Complex.
The first period of play saw a scrappy Niagara team battle hard but be unable to find the back of the net. The visiting Oshawa Generals would score twice however to take a 2-0 heading into the first intermission. Shots on goal after the first favoured Oshawa 17-9.
The second period would get off to a great start for the IceDogs as Matt Gillard would put them on the board 4:41 into the frame to cut the Generals lead to one. The IceDogs continued to battle throughout the second period but they were unable to even the score, going into the intermission down 2-1. The shot total after the second period was 23-15 for Oshawa.
The third period saw both teams battling hard as the IceDogs searched for the equalizer. Matt Gillard would come up big for Niagara, scoring his second of the night to even things up at 2-2. Late in the third, Mitchell Fitzmorris would connect on the powerplay to give Niagara their first lead of the game at 3-2 with 8:42 left to play. Unfortunately, Oshawa would be quick to respond,tying the game at 3-3. That would prove to be the score at the end of regulation as the officials would end the game in a 3-3 tie.
The IceDogs will now head to Whitby on Sunday, where they will visit the Oshawa Generals in the back end of a home and home. The IceDogs next return home on Saturday, September 14th when they will play host to the Kitchener Rangers at 7pm to close out their exhibition schedule.
