WORCESTER, MA – Blake Evans scored with just under 14 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Worcester IceCats to a 2-1 victory over the Albany River Rats last night before 7,116 fans at Worcester's Centrum Centre. It was Worcester's third overtime win of the season.

Albany jumped in front at 9:43 of the first period as former IceCat Craig Darby converted a nice pass by Steve Kariya for his team-leading 15th goal of the campaign. The IceCats quickly answered as Scott Pellerin netted a power play goal at 14:46. For Pellerin, it was his fifth of the season and third against his former team in just two meetings.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 through regulation and most of overtime. With 20 seconds to go in overtime, however, the IceCats won an offensive zone faceoff and quickly fed the puck to Pellerin in the left wing corner. The Worcester veteran then slid a low pass through the crease to Evans, who scored into a virtually empty net.

Both goaltenders turned in strong performances, making remarkable stops at key times. Albany's Scott Clemmensen finished with 27 saves, while Worcester's Curtis Sanford turned aside 23 shots.

NEXT HOME GAME: The IceCats open a big three-game weekend on Friday night, hosting the Lowell Lock Monsters. Centrum Centre face-off is at 7:05.
