Toivonen, Walsh lead Bruins to tie in Portland

The Providence Bruins and Portland Pirates met on Sunday afternoon in Portland, as the teams battled to a 1-1 tie in the fifth game of their 10-game season series. The Bruins remain in third place in the Atlantic Division with their 18-12-10-0 record. Providence is unbeaten in overtime this season, at 2-0-10.

Bruin right wing Brendan Walsh scored the game-tying goal on a second period power play. It was his fifth goal of the season, and third in his last three games. Matt Herr and Brian White assisted on the play.

Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 30 shots and is 9-5-4 on the season.

The Bruins return home for a special 1:05 p.m. matinee on Monday, January 19, when they host the Binghamton Senators. The game was originally scheduled for 4:05 p.m., but was changed to accommodate a request by the Dunkin' Donuts Center and Providence College.
