IceCaps Donate over $100,000 to Charities in First Half of Season

IceCaps Care and the Williams Family Foundation donated more than $100,000 to local charities in the first half of the 2014-15 American Hockey League (AHL) season.

"The St. John's IceCaps organization, through our charitable wing, is honoured to continue our support of so many worthy organizations throughout our province," said Danny Williams, President and CEO of the IceCaps. "We feel it's important to give back to a community that has embraced us since we launched the franchise in 2011."

The following organizations received funding this fall:

- St. Bon's Forum

- Choices for Youth

- Kidney Foundation

- CNIB

- Waterford Hospital Auxiliary - Eastern Health

- Duke of Edinburgh's Award

- Salvation Army - Kettle Fund

- Community Food Sharing Association

- VOCM Cares

- Heart and Stroke Foundation - Newfoundland and Labrador

- Children's Wish Foundation - Newfoundland and Labrador

- Kids Eat Smart Foundation - Newfoundland and Labrador

- Down Syndrome Society - Newfoundland and Labrador

- Canadian Cancer Society - Newfoundland and Labrador

- Iris Kirby House

- Newfoundland and Labrador Housing and Homelessness Network

- School Lunch Association

IceCaps players and mascot Buddy the Puffin also made hospital and school visits, and made various in-kind donations during the first-half of the season.

Over the past three and a half seasons, IceCaps Care and the Williams Family Foundation have donated approximately $2 million through financial and in kind donations, impacting more than 700 organizations throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
