December 31, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release

The St. John's IceCaps dropped a 4-0 decision to the Manchester Monarchs Wednesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH.

Nick Shore scored twice for the Monarchs, while David Van der Gulik and Michael Mersch added singles. J.F. Berube posted the shutout, turning aside 33 IceCaps shots.

After a scoreless first, Shore connected at 14:24 of the second period as he was left alone at the side of the net with the Monarchs on the powerplay. Van der Gulik made it 2-0 for the home side just under two minutes later, as he jammed the puck past IceCaps netminder Connor Hellebuyck, in the crease.

The Monarchs took a commanding 3-0 lead intercepting a pass while shorthanded at 10:13 of the third, with Shore converting on a two-man breakaway. Mersch rounded out the scoring with a nifty individual play at the side of the IceCaps goal at the 12:27 mark of the final stanza.

The IceCaps travel to Hartford Friday to face the Wolf Pack in the opening game of a two-game series (8:30 PM NDT). Catch all the action with broadcaster Brian Rogers at www.stjohnicecaps.com and 930AM, or watch live on AHL Live.
