Winnipeg Ice News Release


The Winnipeg ICE handed the Red Deer Rebels their first loss of the WHL regular season Tuesday night.

Ben Zloty on the power play, Skyler Bruce even strength and a shorthanded goal by Matthew Savoie powered the ICE to a 3-1 victory, improving their record to 16-1.

Carson Birnie had the lone goal for Red Deer, now 15-1.

Winnipeg outshot the Rebels 29-21. Goaltender Daniel Hauser (12-0) earned the victory while Kyle Kelsey (10-1) took the loss.

The ICE finished the game 1/7 on the power play, the Rebels were 0/6.

The two teams play again tomorrow (Wednesday) night, 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
