October 23, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Winnipeg Ice News Release

Conor Geekie's second goal of the game with 23 seconds remaining in regulation time gave the Winnipeg ICE a 5-4 decision over the Kelowna Rockets Saturday night.

Geekie broke the hearts of Rocket fans inside Prospera Place just seven seconds after Adam Kydd tied the game at four for Kelowna.

Ben Zloty, Ty Nash and Vladislav Shilo also scored for the ICE (11-1).

Winnipeg is the first team to sweep all five games through the B.C. division since the Kootenay ICE did it during the 2011-12 season.

Daniel Hauser made 33 saves for his ninth consecutive victory this season. It was Hauser's 50th career WHL win (57GP: 50-3-2).

Rilen Kovacevic, Gabriel Szturc, Turner McMillen and Adam Kydd replied for Kelowna (3-6-1).

Talyn Boyko stopped 27 of 32 shots in the Rockets net.

The ICE return to action next weekend with a pair of games against the Brandon Wheat Kings. The two teams resume the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers Friday at Westoba Place (6:30 on CFRW 1290).

Winnipeg then hosts the Wheat Kings Saturday night, 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
