ICE Visit Oil Kings Before Christmas Break

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE (8-21-5-1) visit the Edmonton Oil Kings (17-12-4-2) for the second time this season on Sunday, December 16.

Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. MT.

This is the final game for the ICE before the Christmas break.

The Kootenay ICE are coming off of a 5-3 victory over the Kamloops Blazers on Friday, December 14. The ICE received goals from Peyton Krebs, Jaeger White, River Fahey, Davis Murray and Jakin Smallwood. The ICE were led by Krebs, White and Michael Milne, each recording two points in the game. Goaltender Jesse Makaj stopped 37-of-40 shots to collect his second victory of the season. The Blazers got two goals from Quinn Schmiemann and the other from Connor Zary. The ICE were outshot 40-30. They went 2-for-4 on the power play, 4-for-5 on the penalty kill and won 37-of-70 face-offs.

The ICE have amassed 22 points this season, which is good for sixth in the Central Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference.

The ICE have a road record of 2-9-3-1.

The Edmonton Oil Kings host the Kootenay ICE for the second time this season on Sunday, December 16. Sunday's game is the final one before the Christmas break for the Oil Kings. The Oil Kings are coming off of back-to-back overtime performances, one against Prince Albert and the other against Calgary. Heading into Sunday's game, the Oil Kings are third in the Central Division and fifth in the Eastern Conference.

The Oil Kings are coming off of a 3-2 overtime victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday, December 15. The Oil Kings received goals from Vince Loschiavo, David Kope and Andrew Fyten. Kope and Fyten each registered two points in the game, with Fyten collecting the OT winner. Goaltender Dylan Myskiw stopped 32-of-34 shots he faced. The Oil Kings outshot the Hitmen 44-34. They went 0-for-6 on the power play, 2-for-3 on the penalty kill and won 29-of-69 face-offs.

The Oil Kings have collected 40 points this season, which is good for third in the Central Division and fifth in the Eastern Conference.

The Oil Kings have a home record of 9-5-0-0.

HEAD TO HEAD

This is the fifth meeting of the season between the ICE and the Oil Kings. The last time these two teams met, the Oil Kings picked up a 5-2 victory on November 9. The final meeting of the season between these two teams will take place on March 10 in Edmonton.
