Ice Pilots Rally Past Wildcatters in OT 5-4

PENSACOLA, Florida (Ticker) -- Kent Sauer scored in overtime to lift the Pensacola Ice Pilots over the Texas Wildcatters, 5-4. Sauer collected his fourth goal in 58 games this season with 60 seconds remaining in the extra period.

Andreas Holmqvist scored with 3:54 left in the second period, assisted on a power-play goal by Dwayne Hay 76 seconds into the third and helped out on a man-advantage marker by Corey Neilson 3:42 later for a 3-3 tie. After Rae Metz gave Texas a lead 8:27 into the third, Brett Gibson netted the game-tying goal for Pensacola 6:17 later. Brian Eklund stopped 27 shots for the win, the Ice Pilots' ninth in 14 all-time meetings with the Wildcatters (9-3-2). Cory Morgan and Tony Lawrence both scored in the first period and Martin Masa extended the lead to 3-0 with 2:55 expired in the second for Texas, which has dropped seven of its last eight decisions.

Davis Parley surrendered three goals on 11 shots for the loss. Mark Scally started the game in goal for Texas, stopping 31 of the 33 Pensacola shots he faced. He left the game with an injury early in the third period. Rob Guinn and Rob Davidson each had a pair of assists in the game for the Wildcatters.
