Ice Looks to Pack the House Saturday Night

DIVISION WAR: The Indianapolis Ice looks to take a giant leap towards the playoffs with three straight contests against division rival Memphis. Memphis (25-16-2) are currently seven points ahead of Indianapolis going into the three-day weekend, but the Ice has five games in hand with the RiverKings. The Ice is 4-3-0 against Memphis this season and is 2-1-0 this year at home against the RiverKings. Bernie John leads the Ice in scoring against Memphis this season with 11 points (11A) and Dave Gilmore leads the club in goals (7). Goaltender Jeff Sanger has started every game for the Ice in net, posting a 4-3-0 record, 2.57 GAA and a .900 save percentage. Jay Neal leads the RiverKings in points (11) against Indianapolis this year, while Don Parsons is the all-time opponent scorer against the Ice with 75 points in four years of work. Goaltender Mike Minard has two of Memphis' three wins this year.

MR. CONSISTENCY: Jason Baird notched his team-leading sixth three-point game of the season last Saturday night scoring a point on all three Ice goals in the team's 3-1 victory over the Wichita Thunder. Baird's consistent effort has him tied for the team lead in points (48) with defenseman Bernie John, which also places the duo in a tie for eighth place in the CHL points race. Both he and John head to Albuquerque, New Mexico this week for Thursday night's CHL All-Star Game.

DOWNTOWN DOMINANCE: The Ice has won all three games at Conseco Fieldhouse this season bringing its all-time record to 20-10-3 in the building. Bernie John is three points away (14G, 25A) from passing former Ice center Chris MacKenzie as the all-time points leader at the Fieldhouse. Brent Zelenewich has felt comfortable in net this season at the downtown venue as he has earned three wins in three starts.

PLAYER PLUGS: Bernie John leads all CHL defensemen in scoring with 48 points and has points in twelve of his last thirteen games....Jason Baird has 14 points (5G, 9A) in his last nine games and 26 points (8G, 18A) in his last sixteen contests... Dave Gilmore brings a four-game goal streak and a five-game point streak into this week's play.

TEAM TALLIES: The Ice is 7-3-0 in its last ten games...Indianapolis is tied for second in the CHL on the power play (38-204, 19.6%)...The Ice is third in the league in goals scored/game (3.32) and shots/game (33.79)...Indianapolis is 12-2-1 when scoring the first goal of the game at home.

PACK THE HOUSE: "Pack The House Night" returns for the tenth year this Saturday. The Ice will attempt to pack Conseco Fieldhouse with over 14,000 fans as the club battles the defending CHL Champion Memphis RiverKings. "Pack The House 2004" will benefit the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation-Indiana and the Jr. Ice Hockey Program. In addition, the players will wear jerseys designed by the children at St. Vincent Children's Hospital.

THUNDER EDGES ICE 5-4

· Jason Duda scored a goal and two assists and goaltender Nathan Grobins made 24 saves to lead the Thunder past the Ice 5-4. Ryan Carter led the Ice with three points (1G, 2A) and Bernie John helped out with a goal and an assist.

ICE EVENS WEEKEND SERIES WITH 3-1 VICTORY

· Jason Baird (1G, 2A) had a point on all three Ice goals in a 3-1 payback triumph over the Wichita Thunder. Ice netminder Brent Zelenewich saved 26 of 27 Thunder shot attempts and Dave Gilmore added a goal and an assist.
