Austin Ice Bats News Release
One of the rising stars of the Texas music scene will join the "Crown Royal Concert Series," hosted by the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League. "Los Lonely Boys" will perform Saturday, February 28th at the Travis County Expo Center, following the Ice Bats' final regular season home game against Corpus Christi.
Based out of San Angelo, "Los Lonely Boys" fuses blues-rock with a Latino influence. In support of their self-titled debut release, the band performed at last year's "Farm Aid" benefit in Columbus, Ohio and greeted enthusiastic crowds at last fall's Austin City Limits Music Festival. Their current coast-to-coast tour will include several March appearances with Willie Nelson and with George Thorogood.
The "Crown Royal Concert Series" kicked off last Saturday, with country-rockers "Reckless Kelly" playing before a season-high crowd of 6,739 fans.
The next installment of the series takes place Saturday, February 7th, with the Austin-based rock band "Vallejo" performing after the Ice Bats' game against Rio Grande Valley. In the midst of a Texas tour to promote their new release, "Black Sky," "Vallejo" will also perform Super Bowl weekend in Houston.
"As the âLive Music Capital of the World,' we thought it was a natural to have concerts following our games," said Jeff Buch, Ice Bats President. "Not only will it provide added value for our current ticket holders, but it will expose new fans to the excitement of Ice Bats hockey."
The Ice Bats return to action with home games this Friday and Sunday at the Travis County Expo Center. Friday night is "Mullet Night," as the Ice Bats face Laredo. Platinum Club tickets to a Dallas Stars game will be awarded in the "Best Mullet" contest, and fans are invited to have their picture taken in the "Mullet-izer." In addition, one lucky fan will shoot to win a new Ram pickup in the Dodge "Score-O" contest. The Austin Girls Choir will perform the National Anthem, and the Lanier High School and Burnet Middle School bands will perform, as part of Austin Community College's "Marching Band Series."
Sunday is Time Warner Cable Family Day, as the Bats take on Fort Worth. Families may purchase a package of four tickets, Pepsis, hot dogs and a game program for just $49.99. A post-game skate with the Ice Bats follows the contest, courtesy of Chaparral Ice Center.
Tickets to all home games are now available at all Texas Box Office locations, including the Ice Bats ticket office and all Austin-area HEB stores. On-line ordering is available through www.TexasBoxOffice.com. To charge by phone, fans may call Texas Box Office at (512) 477-6060, or the Ice Bats ticket office at (512) 927-PUCK.
