
Ice kicker honored by UIF

The Colorado Ice fell to the Omaha Beef 31-20 at Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb. on Friday. With the loss the Ice fall to 1-1 on the season.
The Beef jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter before the Ice were able to generate some offense and come within reach. Wide receiver Josiah Richmond opened the second quarter with a touchdown pass from Ryan Clement and Deric Yaussi added an extra point and field goal to end the first half scoring for the Ice down 24-10.
Colorado opened the third quarter with a field goal from Yaussi and held the Beef to just one touchdown. The only points in the fourth came for the Ice on an interception returned for a touchdown by defensive back Jason McCleary.
The Colorado Ice will continue their road trip, facing the RiverCity Rage on April 7 and the Sioux City Bandits on April 13, both 7 p.m. matchups. The Ice will return home to host the Beef on April 21 at 7 p.m. All games will be broadcast on the Ice flagship, KFKA 1310 AM.

Yaussi Named UIF Player of the Week
Colorado Ice kicker Deric Yaussi was named as the United Indoor Football League's Special Teams Player of the Week. Teammates Eugene Reed and Steve Frye were both selected as honorable mentions for offense and defense, respectively.
Yaussi, a University of Wyoming alum, kicked the game winning field goal March 23 against the Billings Outlaws in the Ice's inaugural season home opener. He finished the game with four field goals, two extra points and 337 yards on kickoffs to help the Ice to a 26-25 win.
Reed leads the league with 137 net yards on 22 carries and a touchdown. Frye is tied for ninth in tackles with eight, seven of which were solo. He finished the game with two TFL and one sack.
The Ice are coming off the victory over the Billing Outlaws last week at home and are preparing for their road game against the Omaha Beef this Friday. Ice Present $10,000 to United Way of Larimer County
Danny DeGrande, owner of the Colorado Ice professional indoor football team, presented the United Way of Larimer County with a $10,000 check on Friday night during half time of the Ice's inaugural season opener with the Billings Outlaws at Budweiser Events Center. The Ice defeated the Outlaws 26-25 in the final seconds of an exciting game.
Ticket sales from the exhibition game on Thursday, March 15, 2007, between the Ice and the Denver Titans, a semi-pro team in the Colorado Football Conference, were donated to the United Way. Thanks go out to the Titans and owner Demetrius Granado for participating and giving Northern Colorado Ice fans a first taste of the excitement still yet to come this season.
Ice Sign Former Beef Player
Collins Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Ice, announced the signing of wide receiver Mike Jones, who comes to the Ice after spending a year playing for the Omaha Beef.
Jones was born in Henderson, Neb. and graduated from Midland Lutheran College with a degree in Business Administration. Jones was a receiver and punter for MLC and was named honorable mention All-Conference his junior year and first team All-Conference as a senior. He still holds punting records for the Warriors with 195 in his career and 66 in a season (2002). In addition, Jones spent a year coaching the Warrior running backs.
Jones went to high school at Sutton Public in Sutton, Neb. and played football, basketball and baseball and ran track for the Mustangs, earning four varsity letters in each. He was named to the All-League team twice in football and to the All-State football team two years. Jones earned team MVP honors in football and was team captain for two years.
