Colorado Crush News Release

Fort Collins, CO - The Colorado Ice are proud to announce that linebacker/defensive, Danny Mason Jr., has signed a contract with the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. After a successful rookie IFL campaign with the Ice, Mason will get the opportunity to advance his playing career during the Broncos'2015 training camp.

The Texas A&M-Commerce product was a finalist for the IFL Rookie of the Year in 2014. For the season, Mason registered 99 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions. When asked about this once in a lifetime opportunity, Mason humbly commented, "It is an unbelievable opportunity from God above. I have to pinch myself to make sure that it isn't a dream- it's a reality. I'm grateful and blessed."

Mason will be leaving the Colorado Ice with the best of spirits saying, " I just want to thank the whole organization inside and out, I am appreciative of every opportunity." Mason added, "Thank you for putting me in a position to be seen and play the I love."

Mason is not the first Ice player to be noticed by the Broncos. In 2013, linebacker Chase Vaughn signed with the Ice in 2011 and helped the team capture the IFL Mountain West Division Championship. In addition, four Ice players have signed to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL) since 2014. These include defensive lineman Gabe Knapton for Montreal, Linebacker Joe Thornton for Montreal, defensive lineman Markell Carter for Montreal, and defensive back Lamar Markett for Winnipeg.

Putting players in a prime position to be viewed from a higher league is one of the goals of the Colorado Ice staff. Head Coach and Director of Football Operations, Heron O'Neal, commented, "It is the perfect example of how networking works for the Ice organization. The IFL is the perfect development league with a lot of young talent." Defensive Coach and local Longmont High school football coach Brian Arndt added, "His speed and overall athletic ability gives him the best chance to excel at the next level."

The Colorado Ice are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). All home games are played at the Budweiser Events Center located in Loveland, Colorado. The 2015 season kicks off on March 1st against Wichita Falls. Single, group, and season tickets for the 2015 season are now available at the Colorado Ice headquarters by calling (970) 472-0128.
