Ice Flyers Sign Top Scorer Ryan Salvis

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers have signed another key member of their 2013 SPHL President's Cup championship team with the return of forward Ryan Salvis. Salvis was the Ice Flyers' leading scorer from the 2012-13 season and the league's second leading scorer.

Head Coach Rod Aldoff is excited to have Salvis back in Pensacola. "Ryan has shown great leadership on and off the ice, and is an elite player in the SPHL," Aldoff commented, "I'm looking forward to coaching Ryan and to see him continue to excel for the Ice Flyers."

Salvis is a 29-year-old Toronto native. Last season he finished the regular season as the Ice Flyers' top scorer with 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) in 56 games. He also added 108 penalty minutes and a +14 plus/minus rating. Salvis was a key member of the Ice Flyers' power play last year with 20 of his points (6 goals, 14 assists) coming with a man advantage. In seven playoff games he had 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) along with a +2.

Coach Aldoff believes Salvis is an integral part of his team if the Ice Flyers are to repeat as SPHL champions. "Anytime you can a great hockey player who is also a great leader and person, it will only benefit your team in the direction it takes to win a championship," Aldoff added.

In his career with the Ice Flyers, Salvis has scored 98 points (31 goals, 67 assists) in 100 regular season games with 140 penalty minutes and a +10. In the Ice Flyers' playoff runs he has 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists), 8 penalty minutes, and a +6.
