Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. (November 4, 2017) -  Peoria came into Saturday's game hoping to solve the problem that the Ice Flyers have presented to them. However, two power play goals late in the 3rd period by Pensacola left the Rivermen still looking for a solution. Pensacola has beaten Peoria 11 times in 13 games dating back to when the Rivermen joined the SPHL, and incredible feat considering Peoria is usually near the top of the league standings.

The game, much like Friday's game, was tight through the first two periods. Peoria outshot Pensacola 8-7 but neither team found the net. Peoria found the back of the net first in the second period 7:57 in with a Joseph Widmar goal, assisted by Dave Pszenyczny and Connor Gorman. The Ice Flyers responded quickly with a goal of their own at 12:14 of the second period on a Nathan Bruyere goal that was assisted by Stephen Hrehoriak. Pensacola outshot Peoria 17-16 after the second period.

The 3rd period, much like the game before, made the difference. The Rivermen had trouble staying out of the penalty box. Pensacola was able to convert Rivermen penalties into Ice Flyer goals, first on a Kyle Haines goal that was assisted by Garrett Milan and Robert Lepine 5:44 into the game, and again with an Anthony Calabrese goal that was assisted by Jessyko Bernard and Eli Lichtenwald 11:39 in. The Rivermen totaled 18 penalty minutes in the 3rd period alone after only having spent a combined 11minutes in the box throughout the first two periods. Additionally, Pensacola outshot Peoria 16-10 in the 3rd period.
