Five players record multiple points in 7-3 win over Mississippi

SOUTHAVEN, MS- The Macon Mayhem scored a team record for goals scored in a single game tonight in their 7-3 win over the Mississippi RiverKings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mayhem got out to a blazing start in Mississippi, taking a 4-0 lead in the opening frame of the contest. John Siemer led off the scoring with his first of the season, assisted by Vinny Muto and Dennis Sicard. John Gustafsson scored in his second consecutive game to make it 2-0 Mayhem. The offensive onslaught continued, as Ryan Salkeld scored his fourth goal in the last three games off of helpers from Stathis Soumelidis and Stephen Pierog. Gustafsson scored his second of the game to make it 4-0 at the end of the first period.

After Mississippi struck first in the second period, Siemer scored his second of the the game to bring the lead back to four. Caleb Cameron tallied the assist on the goal in his first game with the Mayhem. The RiverKings scored once more in the second to make it a 5-2 game heading into the third period.

Three goals were scored in the third period, two by the Mayhem. Cameron scored his first professional goal to make it a 6-2 game. Salkeld scored his second of the game to give the Mayhem a 5 goal lead. The last goal of the game was scored by the former Mayhem Jamie Hill to make it 7-3.

NOTABLE STATS

The seven goals the Mayhem scored tonight is a team record for most goals scored in a single game.

Charlie Finn became the first Mayhem goaltender to start back-to-back games this season, making 37 saves on 40 shots to earn his second win

In his first game with Macon, Caleb Cameron recorded his first career professional point when he assisted John Siemer's second period goal. He also scored his first career goal in the third period.

Caleb Cameron, Ryan Salkeld, John Siemer, John Gustafsson and Vinny Muto all recorded multi-point games.

BACK IN ACTION

The Mayhem are back on the ice Thursday night at the Macon Coliseum, as the Evansville Thunderbolts come to town. The team will also face off against Evansville on Friday night and the expansion-franchise Birmingham Bulls on Saturday night at the Macon Coliseum.
