Ice Flyers Edge Peoria in Shootout

PENSACOLA, FL - Cody Ferriero netted the deciding goal for the Pensacola Ice Flyers in the shootout as Ice Flyers prevailed over the Peoria Rivermen, 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The Ice Flyers saw a two-goal lead disappear, but were able to secure the win in a shootout. Pensacola made the score 3-1 on a goal by Drew Baker at 17:07 in the third period. Peoria evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jordan Sims at 18:56 in the third period.

Adam Pawlick was all over the ice for the Ice Flyers as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Pawlick scored 11:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola with an assist to Corey Banfield.

Pensacola's penalty kill was spotless allowing no goals on five Peoria power plays. The Ice Flyers failed to reach their usual level of shot production putting 23 pucks on goal compared to their 30.8 average in their first 3 games.

Pensacola additionally got points from Ferriero who also had one goal and one assist. Peoria also received points from Alexandre Carrier who finished with one goal and one assist. Jake Trask contributed a goal as well. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Alex Hudson and Richie Zobak, who each chipped in one.

Max Strang recorded 22 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Eric Levine made 19 saves for the Rivermen on 22 shots. Peoria ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. For the Rivermen, Dan Bremner was ejected from the game.

The Pensacola Ice Flyers will have some down time until they face the Louisiana Ice Gators for the first time this season at the Bay Center on November 11th. All military veterans will receive 50% off center ice seats for veterans appreciation night.
