Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Pensacola Ice Flyers took on the Fayetteville FireAntz for the second night in a row and looked to end their five-game road trip on a positive note. Things did not go as planned, however, as the FireAntz beat Pensacola 4-0.
The Ice Flyers and Fayetteville were scoreless through the first 15 minutes until Mike Kavanagh scored exactly at the 15:00 mark of the first. The FireAntz jumped to a 2-0 lead when John Clewlow scored with only 16 seconds left in the period.
The Antz went up 3-0 when Nick Craven scored the only goal of the second with 12:13 remaining in the frame. Pensacola outshot Fayetteville 13-10 during the second but could not solve Fayetteville goalie Peter Skoggard.
Bobby Reed scored an empty net goal with 1:27 remaining in the game to push the score to 4-0. Just like the second period, Pensacola outshot the Antz but just couldn't get the puck past Skoggard.
Peter Di Salvo stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced in 57:31 of ice time in his first game since coming off of injured reserve.
The Ice Flyers' next game is Friday, Jan. 17 at 7:05 p.m. when they take on the Mississippi Surge inside the Hangar. It is the first game of our Fifth Anniversary celebration weekend. Tickets can be purchased to both on next weekend's games at the Pensacola Bay Center Box Office next week. Center Ice, Corner, End Zone, and Upper Bowl seats are only $5 each.
