Ice Flyers Come from Behind, Down Surge 3-2

BILOXI, MS - The Pensacola Ice Flyers traveled to Biloxi to take on the Mississippi Surge for the last of a three game weekend and got revenge for Thursday with a come from behind 3-2 shootout win.

Pensacola held a 12-9 margin in shots through the first 20 minutes but it was the Surge who held the 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Jordan Peddle.

The second period saw fewer chances overall with Mississippi holding only a 7-5 edge in shots during the second. One of those shots pushed their lead to 2-0 when Tom Craig scored a power play goal with 12:56 remaining in the middle frame.

The Ice Flyers' comeback came from the stick of John Dunbar. He scored his first goal of the game with 9:11 left in the third and Adam Pawlick on the assists. He scored again to tie the game with only 3:41 left in regulations. Ryan Salvis had the only assist on Dunbar's second goal.

The game headed to a shootout after remaining tied 2-2 through overtime. Corey Banfield and Salvis scored in the shootout while Ross MacKinnon stopped all four shooters he faced to help secure the 3-2 win.

MacKinnon stopped 18 of Mississippi's 20 shots in regulations and overtime. Dunbar was named the second and Salvis was named the first star.

The Ice Flyers' next game is Friday, Feb. 28 in Southaven, Mississippi when the Ice Flyers take on the Mississippi RiverKings with a 7:05 p.m. Central puck drop.
