Matthew Savoie scored his first WHL hattrick and also chipped in with three assists for his first six-point night in the WHL as the Winnipeg ICE beat the Regina Pats 9-5 Thursday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
Owen Pederson scored twice for Winnipeg while Zach Benson, Connor Dale, Ty Nash and Connor McClennon rounded out the scoring.
The victory extended the ICE winning streak to 14 games and improved their overall record to 19-1.
Pederson (2-2-4) and McClennon (1-3-4) each finished the game with four points.
Goaltender Mason Beaupit, making his Winnipeg debut since being acquired from Spokane, made 21 saves.
Connor Bedard had a goal and two assists for Regina (9-10-1-1). Braxton Whitehead, Stanislav Svozil and Layton Feist also scored. Matthew Kieper suffered the loss between the pipes making 32 saves.
The ICE went 3/6 on the power play, while the Pats were 2/5.
The two teams play again Saturday night, 8:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
