ICE Conclude Two-Game Home Stand against Vancouver

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg ICE (3-2-1-0) host the Vancouver Giants (3-3-0-0) for the first and only time this season at Wayne Fleming Arena on Saturday night.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.

The Winnipeg ICE are coming off of a 7-0 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings on October 4. Five ICE players recorded a team high four shots on net in the game including Isaac Johnson, Jakin Smallwood, Brad Ginnell, Michal Teply and Matthew Savoie. ICE Goaltender Will Gurski blocked 28-of-35 shots. The Oil Kings received goals from Liam Keeler, Josh Williams, Vladimir Alistrov, Conner McDonald, Riley Sawchuk, Scott Atkinson and Jake Neighbours. Oil Kings Goaltender Sebastian Cossa blocked all 40 shots he faced for the shutout. The ICE outshot the Oil Kings 40-35. They went 0-for-5 on the power play, 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and won 31-of-67 face-offs.

The Vancouver Giants visit the Winnipeg ICE for the first and only time this season on Saturday, October 5. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. The Giants are currently in the middle of a seven game road trip that includes stops in Brandon, Winnipeg, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Regina and Kamloops. The Giants next home game is October 19 against Swift Current.

The Giants are coming off of a 3-0 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on October 4. Giants goaltender Trent Miner stopped 29-of-32 shots in the loss. The Wheat Kings received goals from Ben McCartney, Luza Burzan and Braden Schneider while goaltender Jiri Patera blocked 40 shots for the shutout. The Giants outshot the Wheat Kings 40-32. They went 0-for-7 on the power play, 7-for-9 on the penalty kill and won 28-of-64 face-offs.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Winnipeg ICE and Vancouver Giants only meet once during the 2019-2020 campaign. In fact, both teams only meet one time every season. The last time these two teams met was on January 6, 2019, in what turned out to be a 6-0 victory for the Giants. The ICE will travel to Vancouver to face the Giants next season.
