April 26, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Winnipeg Ice News Release

Winnipeg hit the ice for their second last game of the season as they start a back-to-back with a matchup against the Prince Albert Raiders. The Raiders took the Brandon Wheat Kings to overtime on Saturday before eventually losing 5-4. Winnipeg had a two day break after beating the Saskatoon Blades by a score of 4-1 on Friday night. Daniel Hauser started for the ICE, looking to go undefeated in regulation during his eight starts in the bubble. Carter Serhyenko got the nod for the Raiders.

Prince Albert jumped on the scoreboard first as the ICE ran into some penalty troubles early on in the period. After a scrum in front of the net, the puck came to Ozzy Wiesblatt near the face-off dot and the Raiders forward fired it past a screened Hauser who had been knocked down by incidental contact. The goal came at 11:16, as Eric Pearce and Reece Vitelli picked up the assists on Wiesblatt's sixth of the year. The Raiders led in shots 10-9 heading into the first intermission.

Winnipeg tied it up 6:36 into the second period as Jakin Smallwood, Cole Muir, and Jackson Leppard connected for a tic-tac-toe goal as Leppard finished the feed from Muir. The Raiders would retake the lead on another power-play goal as Spencer Moe beat Hauser far blocker side for the 2-1 lead at 10:29. Justin Nachbaur would add to Prince Albert's lead on the power-play as Hauser made several saves before the puck came to Nachbaur in the slot and the big forward ripped it in. The goal came at 17:07, and was assisted by Pearce and Vitelli. Shots were 19-16 for Prince Albert after two frames.

The ICE got one back in the third period when Chase Bertholet flipped a puck high to Conor Geekie, who beat Landon Kosior in a foot race and went in on a breakaway where he went wide on Serhyenko and beat him with a backhand over the left pad. Winnipeg tied it up exactly two minutes later on the power-play as Nachbaur was in the box for tripping. Geekie picked the puck up out of a scrum in the corner and fed Zach Benson, who ripped it post and in past Serhyenko for his ninth of the season. Karter Prosofsky's first career WHL goal made it three straight goals for Winnipeg as he fired a point shot past a heavily screened Serhyenko at 15:20 for the 4-3 lead. Peyton Krebs picked up the assist on the game winning goal, setting an ICE franchise record for 22 straight games with a point. After putting the puck in the net, Prosofsky kept it out of his own net with a desperation block in the dying seconds to preserve the ICE's comeback win.

Winnipeg will play its' final game of the Subway Hub Centre bubble tomorrow night as they take on the Regina Pats at 7:00pm CT.
