Knoxville Ice Bears News Release
The Knoxville Ice Bears announce today the return of veteran Doug Searle for the 2005-2006 season.
Head Coach Jim Bermingham had this to say "Doug Searle has 2 things that cannot be taught, size and experience. I am excited to say that he has agreed to be the Captain of the Knoxville Ice Bears this season, making Doug the 4th Captain Ice Bears history. He will be a true leader both on and off the ice this year. I think the entire team will benefit from his return."
Doug has a long history in hockey in Knoxville, dating back to 1993 and the Knoxville Cherokees thru last season with the Ice Bears. Last season, Doug played 36 games with the Ice Bears, racking up 28 points, 6 goals, 26 assists and 30 penalty minutes. With Doug being 6'4 and weighing 220, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with on the ice.
